Experiential learning
„What I've heard, I forget; what I've seen, I remember; what I've done, I understand“, goes an ancient Chinese proverb. The traditional wisdom is supported by recent research findings, finding learning retention of 20% for isolated acoustic channel, 50% for isolated visual channel, and 80% for learning from one's own hands-on experience. The combination of cognitive, emotional and physical aspects in experiential-based learning enhances information and skill retention, making experiential learning highly effective and directly applicable to practice.
Experiential Learning Cycle
The experiential learning process begins with a hands-on activity followed by a reflection that initiates analytical dialogue identifying behaviors that enhance or hinder performance, addressing feelings and emotions of the team members and relating them to team processed. Through raising their awareness and building up relevant skills, subsequent activities allow participants to practice performance-enhancing behaviors with each successive simulation, and, most importantly, to seek ways for their transfer into the everyday life. By creating a safe and stimulating environment, our programs offer the participants an opportunity to experiment with various communication styles and different approaches to problem solving, experience new team roles and try out different attitudes to team processes and change management.
