F.A.Q.
Who is Odyssey?
We are a training and development company specializing in soft skills development and teambuilding. We utilize experiential learning activities to develop specific management skills, enhance leadership, empower teams and motivate your start. Tools used during our training programs may include interactive diagnostic workshops, problem-solving games and team simulations, low and high ropes course events, philanthropy (Helping Odysseys) or other dramatic/creative learning activities.
What is special about Odyssey?
We do not create experiences for people, we create experiences with people and focus on creating space for participants to fill. At the end of our program the participants feel a sense of creation and collective learning. We learn, we grow and we play right along with our clients; always improving and always challenging ourselves to be better as we ask the same of our clients.
What is a ropes course?
A ropes course is a series of mildly physically challenging events taking part 6–12m above the ground. It is a powerful medium for experiential learning, growth and change, both at the individual as well as team level. These events inspire leadership, teamwork, communication, trust, commitment, goal setting, choice and many other life lessons. Each participant is lead to step out of his comfort zone and overcome his currently experienced limits. Our activities are outcome-based and designed to create conversation and learning.[back to top]
How do Odyssey activities work?
All of our activities and tool work as role-play simulations enabling individual participants and teams to identify their reflexive behavioral patterns and experiment with them in a safe and encouraging environment in search for more impact and efficiency, improved processes and enhanced relationships. Thus opportunities for reflection and growth are created.
Based on the Experiential Learning Cycle (experience – describe – interpret – generalize – apply) we strive to design and facilitate our programs with focus on transfer or applicable specific learnings into participants everyday lives.
Can you conduct programs at a location of our choice?
We can design programs that are conducted either on-site, at an organization's facility, or just about anywhere you are or want to be – in- /outdoor, countryside / urban milieu, Czech Republic / abroad.
How long are the programs?
Our programs range from short 4-hour programs (mini-programs, workshop & seminars, Helping Odyssey™) over 1–3 day programs to The Enhance™ Process that is positioned over twelve months for ongoing learning. up
Does everybody have to take part in all activities?
All of our programs without fail are run by the „challenge by choice“ principle, meaning that participants are encouraged to make their own decision in which activities and to what extent they want to take part. up
Are outdoor programs safe?
Participants‘ safety is of paramount importance to us. That is why we have developed a unique belay system by far exceeding the safety standards of Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT). We are a founding member of the Czech and Slovak Association for Experiential Learning (CSAEL) who is the local guarantee of quality, safety and ethical standards in the industry. The applied safety rules are based on extensive experience of its members as well as internationally acknowledged best practices. Although there are no relevant statistics figures available for the Czech Republic the international experience has it that „outdoor training“ activities are (as far as number of per person incidents on an hour of activity) roughly 150× safer than alpine skiing and about 1000× safer than soccer.
Do you have a back-up plan in case of bad weather?
If a given program is designed and prepared for the outdoors the general policy is to deliver it as such unless the weather conditions shall put the participants‘ health or safety to danger. In such case a back up indoor program is delivered. It is our advise to dress and gear up with regard to the activities included in the program and the milieu it takes place in (stable shoes, functional garments in multiple layers, water resistant top layer etc.). Prior to the program a „what to wear sheet“ is distributed to all participants.
